Love Lock Down: 9 Creative Ways To Date While Social Distancing

Long distance dating is never easy. When you throw in a sprinkle of global mayhem, we are in for many obstacles to overcome.   As human beings, we often yearn for that physical touch or closeness. In the midst of all the craziness we still want to be around those who make us smile and feel at peace.

A timeline on when the world will go back to normal is currently unknown.  So what do we do in the meantime? We’ve listed 9 ways to get creative while dating in this pandemic.

  1. Read A Book Together

This can be an opportunity to crack open that book you’ve been wanting to read for months. What’s better than inviting someone to read it with you and discuss chapters and themes with each other? You can make it your very own intimate book party!

  2. Send Gifts

I’m sure at a time like this, many of us may have been asked to “send nudes” *rolls eyes*. Something a bit more romantic during this time of isolation is to send your special someone a gift such as flowers or a care package to let them know you are thinking of them. A thoughtful gesture can go a long way.

  3. Play Games

It wasn’t until the quarantine that I realized we could use social apps like Zoom and Houseparty to have a great time with one another. Houseparty specifically has games that you and your boo can play with while chatting. Let’s not forget the games on your phone that can be played if you’re up for some friendly competition.

  4. Have A Virtual Cook-Off

This can be so much fun! You can share recipes and choose a dish to cook. See whose looks better. It’s also a good opportunity to sit down and eat a meal together.

  5. FaceTime Date

Get the wine while you’re out at the grocery store, put on something that makes you feel good and call your current bae at a set time. You could even order takeout if you really want to go all out. Sure a FaceTime date doesn’t beat the real thing but it still gives you some one on one time to talk, flirt and have some fun.

  6. Watch A Show Together

With having some extra time in the house, this can be a great time to Netflix and Chill, kinda. There are so many streaming platforms available at our fingertips. Find a great show that you both have been dying to watch and start from episode 1.

  7. Learn A New Skill Together

This can be a fun and creative way to bond while developing knowledge on a similar interest. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be the same new skill. The point is to learn together. There are tons of FREE online classes and the Internet can be our best friend.

  8. Keep It Spicy

I will leave this one up to the readers to interpret at their own risk! Just because you can not see your special person doesn’t mean it has to be boring in the meantime. Have some fun and try not to do anything that I wouldn’t do. *wink wink*

  9. Karaoke Battle

What are some of your favorite songs to sing? Set up your YouTube or favorite medium with some karaoke sing-alongs and go song for song with your girl or guy. We can’t guarantee who will wine but it will definitely be a blast!
